Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in the local government sector located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves working in the tax department, handling various accounting tasks, and utilizing a range of skills such as MS Excel, Account Reconciliation, and Data Entry.

Responsibilities:

• Handle data entry tasks, ensuring all information is entered accurately and promptly.

• Utilize MS Excel for various accounting functions, maintaining proficiency in the software.

• Conduct account reconciliation to ensure all financial data aligns and there are no discrepancies.

• Assist in the preparation of estate tax returns, ensuring all information is accurate and compliant with federal regulations.

• Manage personal property tax matters, providing accurate calculations and timely submissions.

• Handle federal income tax returns, ensuring they are completed correctly and submitted on time.

• Ensure accurate and up-to-date record keeping of all customer accounts.

• Address customer inquiries related to their accounts, providing clear and concise information.

• Monitor customer accounts, identifying any issues and taking appropriate action.

• Comply with all local government regulations and standards in all tasks. Requirements • Proficient in MS Excel

• Experience with account reconciliation

• Skilled in data entry

• Familiarity with estate tax return

• Knowledge of federal income tax

• Ability to prepare federal income tax returns

• Understanding of federal tax laws

• Experience with federal tax return preparation

• Knowledge of personal property tax

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Detail-oriented and organized

• Previous experience in a local government setting is a plus

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
