This company is located in the Charlottesville, Virginia region and is offering a dynamic, multi-faceted short-term opportunity where effort is rewarded. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. Be prepared to dedicate a fair amount of time to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.
What you get to do every day
Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Maintain monthly payment schedules
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Requirements - Journal entries experience required
Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
Demonstrated knowledge of QuickBooks
Adeptness in Accounts Receivable (AR)
Month end closings experience
General ledger experience desired
Microsoft Excel experience
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
