Field Safety Officer will be responsible for recognizing and evaluating safety and environmental risks for field operations, and for implementing control measures that are designed to mitigate those risks resulting from human error and equipment operation.
National Salvage & Service Corporation provides safe, efficient, and environmentally sound products and services to help industries remove, recover, and restore resources. National has removed, recovered, and restored resources at sites ranging from the complete demolition of power plant buildings and equipment to taking up thousands of miles of vacated railroad tracks.
We recycle or reuse nearly all of the materials from our projects. For example, we are the largest recycler of treated wood in the U.S., finding uses for more than one-half million tons of railroad ties per year.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Lead, Conduct, and Train on the Field Safety Observations designed to identify hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors.
Work with Leadership to assist with performance of safety monitoring, job hazard analyses, and execution of safety audits
Drive incident investigations, ensuring completion of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action planning and communicate to Field Operations
Identify field opportunities to better streamline safety Process Control, Best Practices, and Occupational Health Surveillance
Continued, validated day to day safety performance of field personnel to ensure operating compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
Identify top tier customer counterparts to ensure joint safety audits are conducted, ensuring defined action items to better educate and ensure overall compliance.
Hands on -Coaching, Teaching, & Mentoring- of safety compliance within the entire National Salvage & Service organization.
Attend and participate in customer safety meetings and seminars.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of field safety experience in heavy civil, demo, and/or rail construction
Strong working knowledge of OSHA policies and procedures.
CSP, OHST, or CHST certifications are preferred.
Open availability to any emergency situations.
Up to 100% travel, using any method of transportation.
Ability to apply high levels of cognitive, analytical, retention and reasoning.
Excellent communication skills used within any social context.
Can see up close, distances, colors and has use of peripheral vision and depth perception.
Can tolerate variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment.
Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Reach, Balance, Stoop, Kneel, Hear, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, can see up close, distances, color and has use of peripheral vision and depth perception, walk on uneven terrain, Lift 50 pounds, and Exposed to Loud Noises. This is an Outdoor Position, and you will be exposed to all weather elements.
