The Senior Substation Maintenance Supervisor will be at Santiago Substation within the Metro East/Orange region of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission and Distribution Business Unit (TDBU). The successful candidate will supervise Substation Maintenance Electricians in the performance of their duties as they relate to construction, maintenance, test, repair and operation of substation equipment.

Planning scheduling, programming and executing daily work assignments in a safe and productive manner.
Interpreting, training, and enforcing compliance of all corporate policies, safety rules and procedures, System Operating Bulletins, and Substation Construction and Maintenance (SC&M) Safety Strategy, including maintaining and updating maintenance records in SAP, and resolving labor inquiries and disputes to the Bargaining Unit Agreement.
Researching, ordering and receiving materials, tools and equipment for substation maintenance, test and construction activities, including creating capital and expense work orders for repair and replacement of substation equipment.
Remaining on-call after hours and on weekends to provide supervision, direction and dispatch Maintenance crew and resources for substation emergencies.
Performing accounting and tracking functions for crew timekeeping.
Coaching, mentoring, and developing employees, responding to grievances, assigning training, supporting change initiatives, and ensuring safety compliance.
Maintaining records and providing training in the processing and handling of hazardous materials and waste as it pertains to Maintenance activities.
Using computers to perform administrative duties, such as record-keeping, reports, tracking budgets and ensuring the completion of crew training.
Creating and maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
Four or more years in a electric utility performing or supervising in substation planning, design, construction, maintenance, standards & development, system operations, field operations, engineering, or test.
Valid Driver’s License.
The preferred
Bachelor Degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Typically possesses at least five years of experience as a Journeyman Substation Maintenance Electrician, Upgrade Maintenance Electrician, Substation Test Technician or System Operator.
Experience using the SAP Work Management System.
Experience leading or supervising employees performing skilled craft functions in the operation, construction, testing and maintenance of substations.
Experience in the construction, maintenance, test and operations of substations.
Experience forecasting, tracking and maintaining operational and capital budgets.
Knowledge of the IBEW Local 47 Bargaining Unit Agreement.
Knowledge of the Accident Prevention Manual, SOM, and System Operating Bulletins.
Must be available for on call duties after hours and on weekends.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes.

This position’s work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Position will require being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory and will require overnight stays periodically.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
