Position Summary
Position is responsible for managing the financial operations and decision process in order to achieve departmental and City goals, in an efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities
Assesses current accounting operations, offers recommendations for continuous improvements to policies, procedures and processes
Analyzes revenues, expenditures, activity costs and other financial information outside of budgeting tasks.
Assists with all tasks related to the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets.
Monitors expenditure and revenue patterns and make recommendation on needed adjustments. Provide pertinent financial data/reports and recommendations to the appropriate Department personnel.
Assists with maintenance of accounting and performance data to aid in effective decision making.
Prepares and presents audit information to the Controller's Office including information on the department's fixed assets, outstanding payables and receivables, revenue and expense variances, grant information, etc.
Develops and maintains accounting procedures for the department/division and trains departmental staff in their use.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Administration, or Public Administration is required, and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience. Three (3) years of supervisory experience is preferred. One (1) year of related experience maybe substituted for each year of formal education or a combination of training and experience to equal ten (10) years. The position requires knowledge and experience of general accounting procedures, database and worksheet application, and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks to completion. Also requires the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Supervision of staff may also be required.
