  About the Department

  The Section of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy consists offive full-time faculty with comprehensive expertise in surgicaltreatment of complex vascular diseases. Working with colleagues acrossthe enterprise, our faculty has helped established several robustcenters with the aim of holistically treating patients with vasculardisease, including the Center for Aortic Diseases, the Center for VenousDisease, as well as the Joint Commission/American HeartAssociation-accredited Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, the firstof its kind in Chicago. The section is also home to one of the firstaccredited vascular ultrasound laboratories, which is staffed by a teamof board-certified imaging technologists. The section\'s researchinitiatives center on patient outcomes following complex vascularsurgery. The section also manages a robust fellowship program aimed ateducating and preparing the next generation of vascular surgeons. Thisongoing work and achievement would not be possible without the cohesiveeffort of the faculty and staff. We are always looking for individualswho are willing to work in our dynamic and collaborative environmenttoward the shared goal of improving the health of patients in ourcommunity and beyond.

  Job Summary

  The Advanced Practice Provider (APN or PA) in the Section of VascularSurgery works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, usingadvanced clinical skills and knowledge. This position will be deployedat our Hyde Park Campus working in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

  Responsibilities

  Obtains medical histories and performs physical assessments.Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests.Prescribes appropriate treatments.Screens patients.Facilitates care in collaboration with the surgeons.Makes referrals to other disciplines as necessary.Provides inpatient and outpatient services as needed.Designs patient education programs that include information requiredto make informed health care and treatment decisions.Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account thebenefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness forthe patient, family and the organization.Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions neededto achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient\'s plan of care.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

  Education:

  Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from anaccredited school/college.

  Work Experience:

  Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through acombination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant workexperience in a related job discipline.

  Certifications:

  Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registrationrequired. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through theMedical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois

  Preferred Qualifications

  Education:

  An advanced degree (or equivalent, if license received prior to July1, 2001) from an accredited school/college of nursing or completionof an accredited Physician Assistant educational program accreditedby the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for thePhysician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).Experience:

  Two or more years of clinical experience in a related area ofspecialty.Licenses and Certifications for Advanced Practice Nurse:

  Current Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license in the State ofIllinois or eligibility to receive by start date.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois oreligibility to receive by start date.Licenses and Certifications for Physician Assistant:

  Current Physician Assistant license/registration in the State ofIllinois or eligibility to receive by start date.Certification from the National Commission for the Certification ofPhysician Assistants (NCCPA) by start date.Preferred Competencies

  Demonstrated clinical competency, effective leadership and teachingskills.Ability to conduct physical examinations and health assessments.Ability to interview and obtain medical information.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.Strong organizational skills.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and stronganalytical skills.Application Documents
