  This position will work on-site at the Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center

  The Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) is seeking a Health Equity Lead to support statewide efforts to eliminate health disparities and guide the Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) Behavioral Health Hospital in systemically addressing social determinants of health in alignment with MHSATS and Direct Care and Treatment’s (DCT) mission, vision, and strategic direction.

  The AMRTC Health Equity Lead will provide support to implement and audit a health equity plan at AMRTC to advance equity for individuals served by the hospital, which includes:

  Drafting of polices practice guidelines to be reviewed by executive management.

  Assessing and recommending solutions to complex problems.

  Developing tools and resources.

  Providing expert subject matter consultation to support each person in their individualized treatment in a way that is culturally and linguistically responsive to support each person in full access and participation in their individualized treatment.

  In addition, this position will collaborate with hospital leadership and staff advance a professional culture that is inclusive, welcoming of the whole person in terms of their race, sex, gender identity and expression, ethnicity, nationality, age, abilities, sexual orientation and other physiological or cultural factors. This position will provide direction to support the implementation of The Joint Commission (TJC) standards on equity, culture, and literacy, and CLAS (Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services) standards. Lastly, this position provides guidance for Limited English Proficiency obligations and requirements to MHSATS programs and staff.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Three (3) years professional experience working with diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience must demonstrate:

  Working with ethnically and culturally diverse communities, American Indian, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, veterans and/or other communities that experience health inequities.

  Experience with contemporary diversity, equity, inclusion, and multiculturalism theories and issues.

  Strong communication skills to communicate complex information in varied settings to a wide variety of audiences.

  Experience supporting and advising teams, coordinating training and staff development, and meeting facilitation.

  Note: A Bachelor’s Degree in public health, public policy, public administration, health education, social work, or related field may substitute for 1 year of experience OR a Master’s Degree in public health, public policy, public administration, health education, social work, or related field may substitute for 2 years of experience.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience in psychiatric hospitals.

  Experience in healthcare addressing social determinants of health across a spectrum of populations.

  Experience providing consultation and coaching to management to improve cross-cultural communication.

  Understanding of the role and operation of state government in building the health and human services infrastructure.

  Skills in Project Management.
