The successful candidate must be able to own breaking news inside newscasts and in extended coverage. Must be able to showcase content using newsroom set and tools to enhance storytelling. In addition, successful candidates must have an understanding of coverage on all platforms and are expected to help generate enterprise story ideas. Collaboration with others is a must for this position, and candidates should be open to feedback and have a desire to grow in their role.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunicatewith reporters and content center to develop storytelling within broadcastWritefor broadcast including intros and tags creating cohesive storytellingWorkwith Executive Producer and Managing Editor to execute daily newscastsParticipatein daily editorial meetingsCommandcontrol in the room by communicating a clear vision to the production team, reporters and anchorsBuildrelationships with all team members proactively including anchors and meteorologistsUnderstandand executestation researchAssistin the production of special projects and other content related to program and/or stationPerforms other duties as assignedCreate a newscast using content that meets our research guidelinesIncorporate station research and branding consistently to deliver a dynamic and unfolding viewing experienceProduce newscasts with ease and exhibit strong news judgment, as well as have recent experience producing live, wall-to-wall coverage of hard news eventsCandidates must also embrace change, breaking news, and fluid newscasts, and be comfortable working with digital and social newsgathering and news-distributing platformsMinimum QualificationsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsMust be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalismMust be well read on current affairs and have a wide range working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjectsAbility to prioritize assignmentsBalance of strong journalist skills, ability to execute action plans and creative vision to support strong show deliveryAbility to recognize stories with potential and develop them into compelling broadcast contentAbility to scour social media for story ideas and make calls to confirmExcellent time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to pick up shifts in additional dayparts, as neededUnderstand effective and impactful tease writing and promises of value-based coverageFlexibility to change content within newscast often and effortlesslyAbility to communicate clearly and delegate effectivelyPreferred QualificationsA minimum of 2-3 years producing news in a hard news marketis preferredBachelor's degree (B.
