Safelyperform metal working activities including but not limited to job layout, welding, cutting, fabricating, grinding and painting in structuraland nonstructural applications. Compensation-\$25+/hour KeyResponsibilities: Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate andperform repairs on new and used solid waste handling equipment. Repairand prep equipment for painting including painting assigned equipment.Maintain accurate records of services performed. Maintain inventory ofsupplies. Maintain clean work area in shop or on job site and anyassigned vehicles. Assist other shop employees with repairs and duties.Inspect and maintain assigned hand tools and equipment to ensure theyare in working order, notifying Shop Manager of needed repairs. Ensurequality, efficient and safe completion of all repairs. Conform in allrespects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws,regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all Company policies,procedures and directives from supervisors. Attend safety and branchmeetings. Provide basic personal tools such as welding shield, basichand wrenches, etc. Perform other duties and responsibilities asrequired or requested by management. Requirements: High School Diplomaor GED desired. Certification of basic welding skills and/or two yearsexperience in welding/fabricating. Possess a valid Commercial DriversLicense (CDL) preferred Must be able to meet relevant criteria forsafety sensitive functions according to Company standards Knowledge,Skills and Abilities: Possess ability to maintain continuous mental andvisual attention. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally withothers Ability to follow instructions and work under limitedsupervision. Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to stand, sit, walk, usehands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear,climb, balance, taste, and smell. Visual Requirements: include closevision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to regularly lift/moveup to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionallylift/move up to 100 pounds. Ability to work in usually loud conditionsWorking Conditions: Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot andcold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic andcaustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles Occasionally work inhigh precarious places.
