Description
Robert Half is looking for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant. This company is located in the Stamford, Connecticut region and is offering a dynamic, mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.

Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Partake in annual closing processes
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Requirements - Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
High attention to detail
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Credit card transaction processing experience
Practical knowledge of Annual Revenue
Opera experience highly preferred
Adeptness in Daily Cash Receipts
Knowledge of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation
Demonstrated knowledge of month end closings
Strong familiarity with Sales Tax Returns
Daily Cash Management experience
General familiarity with Quarter-end
Microsoft Excel experience
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
