Specific Responsibility:
Develops, implements, administers and maintains applicable health, safety and environmental programs. Develops, delivers or facilitates training required by health, safety and environmental programs. Serves as the main safety contact at the Selma facility.
Ensure compliance to OSHA & EPA regulations
Implement risk reduction initiatives and programs to minimize/eliminate worker
Lead projects and work with internal maintenance, production management and
outside resources as needed
Manage the OSHA Log and work restrictions with injured employee and
supervisors to ensure that restrictions are being followed and all scheduled
appointments are met.
Coordinates and maintains an internal safety program, including safety committees and regular safety meetings.
Reports safety performance measurements to the Site Leader for review and assists in the preparation of safety performance reports/presentations. Responds to regulatory inquiries and inspections pertaining to health, safety and environmental programs.
Audits existing safety, health and environmental programs and updates programs as regulation changes occur. Reviews safety audits to ensure that actions have been completed.
Manages worker’s compensation and injury management programs, including return to work programs. Develops and implements accident investigation programs and procedures to ensure work related injuries are reported and investigated in order to prevent reoccurrences. Assists with accident investigations if necessary.
Facilitates health, safety and environmental training as required by safety or environmental regulations as a means of assuring compliance and providing a safe work environment.
Oversees and manages environmental programs, including record keeping and hazardous / special handling waste programs.
Takes a lead role in implementing emergency response programs including life / safety, fire protection and emergency evacuation procedures. Responsible for ensuring that the facility has the required level of fully trained First Responders.
Responsible for the issuing of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), identifying the most suitable PPE suppliers, and ensuring the correct PPE is in place.
Utilize safety data software to track injuries, near misses, safety audits, and
corrective actions to identify risk reduction initiatives
Understanding and knowledge of manufacturing and associated safety regulations
Assist with conducting New Employee Safety Orientation. Also act as primary
contact for specific training needs for all employee at the location.
To the best extent possible, maintain a physical presence in the facility during
work hours by spending time on manufacturing floor observing and interacting
with supervision and production employees.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years professional work experience in a safety and environmental role in an industrial / manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of plant safety and health requirements as established by federal, state and local agencies. The ability to maintain accurate, legal records.
First aid / CPR / AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of accepting the position is required. Advanced First Aid certification a plus. Applicable industrial safety training a plus.
Proficient in Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Good organizational and data analysis skills
Education
BS / BA in an appropriate science or technical field is required unless an appropriate amount of equivalent experience is demonstrated.Essential Job Functions
