About Sr. Research Program Coordinator II

  We are seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator II (Sr RPC II) who will be responsible for coordinating research activities for the India Clinical Research portfolio of one Principal Investigator (PI) in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. This person will report directly to the Research Program Manager in the Baltimore-based Center for Infectious Diseases in India (CIDI) and will closely coordinate with research teams in India. The Sr RPC II portfolio will include complex TB and HIV clinical research studies being implemented in partnership with academic, governmental, and non-profit institutions in India, with a primary focus of keeping all protocols moving smoothly both operationally and financially. This will include responsiveness to the PI for overall portfolio project management, tracking submission pre- and post-award deadlines, supporting the divisional grants & contracts teams with execution of portfolio-related processing needs, and working closely with team members in both Baltimore and India to identify pressing needs for portfolio progress. This person will be a critical member of a fast-paced international team of researchers, administrative staff, and study coordinators. The Sr. RPC II will be the go-to person for the PI for scientific, administrative, and financial issues and will problem-solve with the investigators and team members.

  Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  Coordinate with the PI, and Sr. Research Assistant to learn, organize, and track portfolio projects and activities. Provide wide-ranging project, network, and relationship management for portfolio operations; meet and report frequently on priorities, progress, and barriers.

  Coordinate with research, finance and administrative staff in order to stay on task and meet metrics and milestones for a variety of projects and initiatives.

  Work with the Grants & Contracts team and CIDI manager to track and report sponsored and non-sponsored accounts and collaborate with colleagues in India to identify and process priority requests.

  Execute post-award grants management tasks prioritized by the portfolio grants and contracts team. This includes but is not limited to creating and tracking Tasks Orders for Johns Hopkins India Private Limited (JHIPL), creating subaward modifications in the SWIFT system, submitting invoices for processing, assisting with purchase orders and tracking all requests through completion. Report to stakeholders on the status of associated requests.

  Lead development, ongoing maintenance, and implementation of project standard operating procedures and work plans.

  Participate in scientific discussions with PIs and the research team.

  Partner with study PIs and collaborators in the planning and implementation of projects.

  Facilitate communication between research teams, research staff, and funding agencies.

  Participate in the development and submission of scientific manuscripts, presentations, and technical reports to the funder.

  Schedule high level meetings of multiple stakeholders.

  Utilize project management software to create and maintain dashboards of associated portfolio priorities, track incoming requests and completed tasks, and create a knowledge repository.

  Engage stakeholders and Indian partners to scale up use of centralized project management software for successful centralization of portfolio needs.

  Manage administrative research needs for the PI, such as organizing and tracking NIH Biosketches and Other Support when needed.

  Triage incoming requests from the PI and determine the appropriate stakeholders for moving requests forward. Track and report on requests through completion.

  Collaborate with divisional communications personnel as needed for event promotion and distribution of research portfolio achievements, including publications. Assemble research materials in support of promotion of portfolio progress.

  Maintain all required human subject's certifications and coordinate with the regulatory team to track project progress through regulatory approvals.

  Lead study teams with specimen tracking efforts.

  Develop and oversee collaborations with entities external to Johns Hopkins including the development of material transfer agreements and MOUs, when required.

  Facilitate meetings including announcements, agendas, minutes, presentations, etc.

  Identify and present opportunities for process improvements and improved efficiency. Leverage automations, when possible, to standardize notifications and collaboration within the project management software.

  Prioritize building effective working relationships with US and international team members and collaborators in service of common goals.

  Other duties as needed to facilitate portfolio goals.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  Five years related experience.

  Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Related Master's preferred.

  Familiarity with project management software (ClickUp, for example).

  Experience with SAP.

  Experience with data management and visualization.

  Experience working with international collaborators.

  Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  Considerable experience with academic research management preferably within the field of infectious diseases.

  Proficiency in PC operations and software applications such as MS Windows, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

  Ability to learn new databases and software applications.

  Schedule flexibility to join early calls with international collaborators.

  Excellent organizational skills.

  Excellent attention to detail skills.

  Ability to follow multiple, detailed directions of various protocols.

  Must have excellent time management skills.

  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  Starting Salary Range: Min $47,500 -Max 83,300 Annually($65,400 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

  JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
