Description
The Department of Medicine is currently seeking a Senior Veterinarian to join our team. Our research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms through which the autonomic nervous system initiates and sustains arrhythmias. We have a specific interest in understanding the contribution of the cardiac nervous system to heart disease. Our research involves the collection of electrophysiologic and neural data in both human subjects and animal models of cardiovascular disease. In human studies, we gather cardiac electrophysiologic recordings using a variety of electrodes and catheters, alongside neural recording data. Our experiments with animal models encompass surgical dissection, recording fundamental hemodynamic and electrical activities, and analyzing tissue chemicals and proteins. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting large animal surgeries, ensuring daily animal care, providing post-operative care, maintaining the health of large animal cases, and collaborating with other departments within the School of Medicine.
