The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join the Red Hat AMQ team working remotely or in the office in the Czech Republic.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of application messaging technologies with a particular emphasis on self service messaging on kubernetes and OpenShift. Relevant upstream projects include theActiveMQ (http://activemq.apache.org) Artemis message broker written in Java, theActiveMQ Artemis Operator (https://github.com/artemiscloud/activemq-artemis-operator/) in Go, as well as theActiveMQ Artemis Self Provisioning Plugin (https://github.com/artemiscloud/activemq-artemis-self-provisioning-plugin) project in Typescript.
Work within our geographically distributed team occurs across these projects, and more, leading to many opportunities to learn about and solve complex distributed system problems. This position is open to candidates based in countries where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
Participate in, lead, and create upstream application messaging project communities, including contributing new development work, as well as fixes and enhancements to existing software
Design, develop, and implement containerized application messaging solutions for bare metal, kubernetes, and OpenShift in the upstream
Become responsible for downstream product quality, participate in peer code reviews, implement continuous integration and delivery, and respond to security threats
Work cross-functionality with documentation, quality engineering, support engineering and business stakeholders to driveAMQ product (https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/jboss-middleware/amq) success
Publicize the team’s work through blogs, web postings, and conference talks
What you will bring
Experience using several programming languages like Java, Go, and Typescript and their associated toolsets
Experience with containerization, kubernetes
Familiarity with application messaging
Ability to work well as part of a diverse team in a highly collaborative, distributed, environment
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
The following are considered a plus:
Experience developing, deploying and operating containerized applications
Experience with OpenShift
Experience with developing operators for kubernetes / OpenShift
Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or higher
Direct experience with the Apache projects ActiveMQ, ActiveMQ Artemis, Qpid or other similar broker or client messaging project
Experience implementing distributing computing applications utilizing AMQP, MQTT, or similar protocols
Experience with both backend and frontend systems
