Overview

As our Recreational Therapy Tech h at CHI St Vincent, you’ll provide recreational therapies to patients being treated for mental health illness. You will use a variety of therapies that address the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs and interests of your patients with the goal of enhancing your patient’s mental health, recovery and wellbeing.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better. You demonstrate empathy and have an understanding of mental health conditions.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Licensed Behavioral Therapist, you will provide recreational therapy and activities for individual mental health patients as well as patients in group settings

You will provide appropriate therapeutic activities for various functioning levels of mental health patients

Help your care team establish and implement appropriate recreational goals

Communicate any changes in a patient’s status, including medical or behavioral

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree Required

Specialty in Therapeutic Recreation preferred

One year of experience with a mental health population preferred, or internship as Recreational Therapy Assistant preferred

CPR Certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire

Pay Range

$16.26 - $22.36 /hour
