About PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (AIRCRAFT PROPULSION EQUIPMENT)

  Summary The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of preliminary and immediate control tasks in regard to the maintenance, inspection, and repair of aircraft propulsion units to include engines and their subsystems, associate engine trailers, maintenance stands/equipment and auxiliary power units via weekly and monthly maintenance schedules and plans. Trains active duty in the accomplishments of tasks set forth herein. Responsibilities Develops and recommends local engine management policy and procedures on Technical Order and AFI guidance Develops maintenance plans and control tasks regarding the maintenance and repair of aircraft propulsion units including engines, their components, Auxiliary Power Units (APU) and associated support equipment Serves as the Propulsion Systems TCTO/TCI Monitor Functions as the Engine Tracking/Comprehensive Engine Management System (CEMS) Data Base Monitor Wing focal point for both the Engine Trending and Diagnostics (ET&D) and Engine Health Management (EHM+) program Assists maintenance analysis functions in the Maintenance Information System (MIS) specific to propulsion equipment functions, engine or equipment operational or historical records, and work order generation data Prepares effective training plans to maximize training for assigned personnel Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience in multiple repair and overhaul processes and procedures used in the modification and repair of aircraft propulsion systems OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of assigned equipment and the ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards, and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 2. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance in workload. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability. 3. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to assure continuing availability of material requirement. 4. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes. 5. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to collect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions. 6. Skill in oral communication to effectively communicate with senior operations and maintenance personnel. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: If position has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications, you MUST submit transcripts with the application. Official transcripts are not required at the time of application; however, if position has a positive degree requirement, qualifying based on education alone or in combination with experience, transcripts must be verified prior to appointment. An accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education must accredit education. Click here to check accreditation. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
