Product Manager Software Development

KBR is seeking a skilled and visionary Product Manager - Software Development to lead and oversee the development and lifecycle management of mission-critical software solutions for the U.S. Space Force. In this role, you will be responsible for aligning software products with the strategic needs of the Space Force, ensuring the delivery of innovative solutions that enhance defense, security, and space operations.

As the key liaison between development teams, Space Force stakeholders, and other departments, you will drive the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation through execution, deployment, and iteration. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that the software products meet high standards of performance, security, and functionality to support the mission of the Space Force.

Key Responsibilities:

Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for software development projects in support of Space Force missions.

Collaborate with Space Force stakeholders to gather requirements, understand operational needs, and translate them into actionable product features.

Ensure alignment of product goals with Space Force mission-critical objectives and long-term strategic plans.

Work closely with software development teams, engineers, and designers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software solutions.

Act as the primary point of contact between Space Force personnel and technical teams, providing clear communication on project goals, priorities, and expectations.

Engage with other government agencies, contractors, and external vendors as necessary.

Lead the Agile software development process, including sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and managing development timelines.

Knowledge of security, compliance, and technical standards required for government or defense software products. 

Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure product success and continuously improve performance.

Mitigate risks and resolve issues that may affect project deliverables or timelines.

Present product updates, roadmaps, and technical solutions to Space Force leadership and key stakeholders.

Gather feedback from users and decision-makers to iterate on product features and functionality.

Serve as the subject matter expert on product capabilities and improvements.

Ensure all products adhere to strict security protocols, defense standards, and government regulations.

Stay current with technological advancements and industry trends related to defense, space technology, and software development.

Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, both within product offerings and the overall software development process.

Work Environment:

On-site support may be required at military installations or secure facilities.

May involve working on highly sensitive and classified projects, requiring adherence to strict security protocols.

Qualifications :

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering, Business, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in software product management, preferably within a government or defense-related environment.

Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies. Agile XP is preferred.

Strong knowledge of the Atlassian Suite, Microsoft Azure Dev Ops , and Git Suite.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading complex software development projects.

Knowledge of security, compliance, and technical standards required for government or defense software products.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, with a focus on innovation and delivering mission-critical results.

Technical proficiency in software development tools and processes.

Experience working with Google Suite and Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Expert in Google Slides, Microsoft Power Point

Experience with Microsoft Teams and Zoom platforms

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Desired :

Experience with Miro Boards

Working knowledge of Figma

Experience working with or supporting U.S. military branches, ideally in the space or defense sectors.

Strong familiarity with satellite communications, space technology, or aerospace operations.

Master’s degree or advanced certification in Product Management or related fields.

Active security clearance.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Scheduled 40 hours per week

Flexibility for after-hours or weekend work may be needed to address critical system issues or deployments.

Basic Compensations :

Salary 110 -1 40 K

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
