The Thermo Fisher Scientific Memphis site is part of the PSG-CTD Division. It is a multi-product and multi-client biopharmaceutical site. We provide storage and order fulfillment of commercial and commercial free pharmaceutical products for our clients. We have capabilities to support and store products that require cold chain and ambient processing.
How will you make an impact?
As a Distribution Supervisor you will provide immediate supervision to assigned staff; including personnel recruitment, frequent performance evaluations, and monitoring for development purposes, as well as ensuring appropriate resources are available and effective use thereof. Direct employees work by tracking and assigning responsibilities for tasks and distributing the workload to develop and drive warehouse management focused on operational excellence and customer engagement that aligns with the overall business strategy. Typical hours will be 8:00am - 4:30p, Monday through Friday.
What will you do?
Coordinate the global synchronization and regular review of import/export requirements and compliance methodologies
Promote and facilitate a safe work environment for all employees and take appropriate action to correct unsafe acts and procedures.
Forecasting and inventory planning with oversight of planning parameters that drive annual distribution and replenishments across the warehouse.
Develop personnel by providing ambitious tasks and assignments and effectively using the PMD (Performance Management Development process) and regular one on one meetings.
Provide developmental feedback, conduct employee coaching and counseling for attendance, performance, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Manage and drive Key Performance Indicators that will enable organizational vitality.
Supervise the import/export associates in performing daily activities including creating and providing all import/export documentation required to facilitate movement of goods to various countries.
Supervise the self-filing of the Automated Export System (AES) information applying Automated Commercial Environment system with U.S. government under the enforcement of the U.S. Census Bureau for shipments with a single product commodity valued over $2500.
Maintain appropriate staffing, interview applicants, and hire qualified candidates.
Lead, and drive Continuous Improvement – PPI (Practical Process Improvement) events by encouraging employees to enter JDIs (Just Do Its) and perform Gemba.
Assist in preparing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the Distribution Center and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
Engage with and mentor distribution teams to ensure accurate actions are being taken to improve process results
Define decision support/action-based tools to proactively identify and act upon supply chain issues such as poor service levels, shipments from secondary DC’s and stock-outs

How will you get here?
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is minimally required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.Experience
At least 5 years of work experience in a distribution environment, working directly with Global Trade and Import/Export regulations
4+ years of prior experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a distribution environment.
Supervisory experience in multiple functions within the distribution center, including but not limited to, Receiving, Production, Packing, and Shipping Departments.
Extensive experience working with a warehouse management system (WMS) such as SAP, Oracle, etc
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficient in completing root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action reports or experience with nonconformances and investigations
Ability to balance multiple tasks and react appropriately to changing priorities and impending tasks
High attention to detail
Good verbal and written communication skills
Critical thinker and problem solver
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Applications
Ability to wear PPE as assigned
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
