About Pharmacy Inventory Control Coordinator - 40 hrs/wk, 1st shift

  PURPOSE OF THIS POSITIONTo coordinate the daily purchasing and inventory functions for all pharmacy areas in conjunction with the Pharmacy Leadership Team. This position will focus on the business analytics of purchasing and inventory control including but not limited to medication contract pricing, medication procurement, backorder medication predictions, medication usage evaluation, Inventory control functions, and performance improvement functions.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESDuty 1: Monitors and maintains all inventory and purchasing functions. Generates reports and maintains the pharmacy information system database as appropriate. Maintains the pharmacy charge master in association with the Pharmacy Leadership TeamDuty 2: Reviews, negotiates, and streamlines pharmacy contracts in conjunction with our group purchasing organization and the pharmacy leadership team. Establishes relationships with our pharmacy distributer and the purchasing coordinators from other organizations.Duty 3: Uses predictive analysis, national pharmacy trends, and other tools to ensure that we have an adequate stock of medications based on seasonality and drug shortages.Duty 4: Uses predictive analysis, system reports, national pharmacy trends, and other tools to ensure that medication costs are minimized.Duty 5: Utilizes LEAN/Six Sigma tools to control and improve the inventory process. Reduces expired medications by maintaining an adequate inventory. Performs routine cycle counts and leads the annual physical inventory.Duty 6: Supports fellow staff members. Maintains a positive attitude regardless of workflow. Follows through on problem resolution to the satisfaction of all involved. Promotes good relations between all pharmacy staff members. Maintains a professional attitude when dealing with other healthcare professionals, patients, etc. Always provides upward support of leadership within the organization.Duty 7: Assists with associate training and our ongoing competency plan in coordination with the lead Pharmacy technician or the Pharmacy Leadership Team.Duty 8: Works to reduce medications errors by streamlining workflows, reducing clutter in the department, and following established best practices.Duty 9: Uses LEAN/Six Sigma performance improvement methods to deliver superior departmental performanceREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS* High School graduate with demonstrated Math/Science skills* Strong analytical and data analysis skills* Computer skills required (including Excel and Word)* Ability to perform short jobs and repetitive activities with accuracy* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, stand and walk a moderate amount. Some exposure to heat, cold, bodily injury and toxic substances. Visual acuity required.* Self-directed, detail oriented, leadership skills that promote a positive work environment* Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.* Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status.
