　　Labor & Delivery is a total of three units; Obstetrics Screening Room(OBSR), Obstetrics Special Care Unit (OBSCU) and Labor and Delivery(L&D). Labor and Delivery is a 15-bed unit responsible for the care forboth low and high-risk moms. This unit offers both medicated and unmedicatedbirthing options, and our nursing staff is skilled in providing a variety oflabor support techniques. We have three operating rooms and five postanesthesia care unit (PACU) bays. Additionally, we have an 8-bed triageunit an

　　Job Summary

　　The Nursing Apprentice, under the direct supervision of an RN, performsbasic patient care activities. The Nursing Apprentice role allows nursingstudents an opportunity to enhance clinical skills in a hospital environmentwhile still enrolled in an ADN or BSN program. The Nursing Apprentice Iadheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professionalnursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics (2015) to providecare to all patients. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in dailypractice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder /Director, Watson Caring Science Institute".

　　Essential Functions:

　　Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN,including but not limited to, monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucosemeasurements, and recording intake and output. (30%)Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of dailyliving, including but not limited to, bathing, grooming and eating. (10%)Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotionalconditions to nursing staff. (10%)Assists with keeping unit(s) and patient rooms stocked, clean, andorderly. (10%)Develop specific clinical nurse skills through observation of experts andsupervised, hands-on experience. (10%)Documentation that complies with clinical guidelines. (10%)Partners with interprofessional team on healthcare consumer throughput byproactively solving problems related to capacity and healthcare consumer flow.(10%)Collaborates with interprofessional teams to incorporate Lean principles forquality improvement initiatives.
