  General Purpose of Job: 

  In collaboration with the Department Manager is responsible for overall unit operations and has 24-hour accountability for all patient care activities and staff who work under their direction. Responsible to organize, direct, and ensure effective operations of the rehabilitation hospital, taking into account the effect of decisions on the 24 hour operation of the unit. 

  The ADM participates with managers in hiring, providing corrective action, and completing formal evaluations of employees. Uses independent judgement in problem solving, takes necessary steps to resolve issues, organizes work flow, assigns employees and participates in budget planning and compliance. This leader maintains clinical competency and participates in direct patient care on an episodic basis to assist with staffing in times of high census, as a consultant to staff, or in response to emergency situations. 

  The ADM is responsible for demonstrating excellent customer service, while upholding the Mary Free Bed Standards of Behavior, and supporting the mission, vision and values of both Mary Free Bed and Sparrow Hospital.Essential Duties:

  Empowered to serve as a leader within level of authority.Promotes/supports shared decision making by empowering associates through delegation of clear responsibility, authority, and holding them accountable.Assists in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.Assists in ensuring compliance with Hospital State, Federal and accreditation regulations in reference to patient care and the physical environmentPatient rounding, follow up on concerns and service recoveryAssists in communicating shared vision, mission, and values with department which motivates others to achieve strategic goals*>Assists in ensuring appropriate staffing and scheduling of associates according to guidelines. Monitors and maintains accountability for budget in defined area of responsibility.Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of action plans for continuous performance improvement. Provides a safe environment through the utilization of best practices for patient, family, and all other caregivers.May function as charge nurse and/or assume patient care when necessary

  Supports a learning environment that is open and respectful, and promotes evidence-based practice. Supports appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continued professional development of associates.
