  Job Summary

  The Obstetrics & Gynecology Research Network has an opening for a Research Development Associate for a social science research project in the health field. This individual will provide support for a large-scale grant funded project focusing on provider bias and stigma in connection with providing peri-delivery care to individuals with substance use disorder. The Research Associate will support the project leads in facilitation and organization of study tasks, including participant enrollment, follow up, and compensation, focus group and interview qualitative support and design and implementation of educational activities including logistics associated with project implementation. This role supports and implements a wide range of strategic, proactive, and capacity building activities designed to enable and enhance research and may include strategic research advancement, communication of research and research opportunities, enhancement of collaboration and team science, and proposal development.

  Responsibilities

  Essential Functions

  Learn study protocol;Review and understand inclusion/exclusion criteriaAssist in participant enrollmentCarry out study eligibility screening of participantsRecruit and consent eligible participantsManages screening and enrollment logsExplain the study protocol and inclusion criteria to physicians, patients, and health care providers in person and by phone; ensure participant understanding of the protocolAssist PI’s with data pulls from our databases as needed, or facilitating statistical analysis support as needed with the biostatisticianGather, record and enter data from study participants into study databasesMaintain source documents, status reports, progress notes, and subject logs in accordance with HIPAA and GCP guidelinesWork with research teams and clinicians to meet enrollment goals and study deadlinesAssist in operational support including focus group and interview logistics (scheduling, space rental, recording, etc.)Assist in coding qualitative data from interviews and focus groupsSupport project reports and disseminationAttend team and study meetingsAssist in maintaining stocks of supplies, including facilitation and simulation suppliesSupport the design of educational activities for healthcare providersLiaison with project consultants including graphic designer, instructional designer, trainers.Work with confidential health information and complete the necessary trainings to do soProficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a Research Development Associate IServe as institutional representatives to the university community and external visitors and may provide information and analysis to support formal partnerships with external entities.Provide strategic advice on making proposals competitive by editing and reviewing proposal drafts and writing non-technical proposal components.Executes communication strategies to inform internal and external stakeholders of research operationsConvene and coordinate research interest groups; Organize and execute interdisciplinary community building activitiesDisclaimer

  Bachelor’s degree + two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

  Preferences

  Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field. Successful candidates will be independent self-starters; be willing to learn study interview, research and assessment techniques; be willing to work outside of traditional work hours in order to recruit and interview participants; have excellent communication and organizational skills; work well with a team and be comfortable with computer databases; seek solutions to problems; invest in creating a sustainable infrastructure to support research; seek solutions to problems; be proactive in working on various protocols.

  The ideal candidate will have:

  A background in nursing, public health, or a related fieldFamiliarity with social science research methodsFamiliarity with human subjects research and study protocolsPrior experience interacting with patients in a clinical settingPrior experience with human-centered design and educational designExperience working in women’s healthPrior CITI , HIPAA , GCP and/or IATA trainingFamiliarity with REDCapType Benefited Staff
