  Job SummaryDenver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Medical Director for ournationally renowned ACUTE Center of Excellence, a 30 bed medicalstabilization unit for those people suffering from extreme forms of eatingdisorders. The Medical Director of ACUTE is responsible for the ongoingcoordination and oversight of the medical and dietary services provided toeating disorders and malnutrition patients at Denver Health's ACUTE. Thisincludes medical and ancillary service oversight, patient care,multidisciplinary staff meetings, faculty development, clinicaloutreach, marketing outreach and coordination and communication betweenACUTE and referring persons and organizations. The position is provided with50% protected time and effort for Department administration and outreach.The remainder of the role is dedicated to either direct clinical care or otherfunded work (research or other external funding). The position will reportdirectly to Denver Health's Chief Medical Officer, with administrativereporting to ACUTE's Joint Management Committee (JMC), a 7 membercommittee comprised of members from DHHA and Eating Recovery Center. He/shewill have an academic reporting relationship to the relevant University ofColorado School of Medicine Department Chair exclusively for academicadvanceme

  Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure all patients being treated at ACUTE receive appropriate medical care.The Medical Director will take responsibility for ensuring all patientsundergoing treatment meet clinical and insurance prerequisites according toexisting clinical care standards and guidelines assisted by other physiciansand ACUTE intake staff. Ensure the highest standard of care across DenverHealth for all ACUTE eating disorders patients through the creation, reviewand implementation of evidence-based clinical care guidelines and policiessurrounding the care of ACUTE's patients. Facilitate communication betweenDenver Health and the Eating Recovery Center. Represent ACUTE at local,state and national conferences, generally involving up to 1-5 4-5 days permonth of travel time. Participate in other marketing meetings or events asneeded. Oversee research and quality improvement initiatives for ACUTEpatients. The Medical Director will be involved with performance of researchand quality improvement projects to steadily increase the quality of care.Includes the review of monthly, quarterly, a d annual data and quarterlyM&M and QI conference. Monitor and optimize quality of clinicaldocumentation in the medical record and. Achievement of a minimum of 100% ofexpected RVUs for relevant staff. Complete insurance reviews and appeals asneeded such as peer to peer reviews and post discharge appeals. Support andoversight of medical and dietitians faculty and provide consultation with theteam on difficult cases as indicated. Lead biweekly team huddles. The MedicalDirector shall meet with the CMO monthly to review quality of care,financial performance, academic productivity, and patient satisfaction forthe Department. Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, management, andretention of medical and dietitian clinical staff on ACUTE. Responsible forthe direct management of hospitalists, psychiatrists, registereddietitians, physical therapists and occupational therapists. For directreports, perform an annual evaluation that provides feedback, guidance,and mentoring for staff reporting directly to him/her. Maintain a continuingreview of the professional performance of all practitioners with clinicalprivileges on ACUTE. Manage academic initiatives on acute, responsible andaccountable for the academic performance and productivity of medical faculty.Promote teamwork both within a department and between/among otherdepartments in all aspects of academic and clinical functions. Clinical rolemodel and leader of the department who acts collaboratively and makesdecisions based on sound ethics and what will bring the greatest benefit toACUTE and its patients and the overall Denver Health institution. Responsiblefor financial stewardship of the department. Authorizes expenditures fromdepartmental funds consistent with all institutional guidelines and practicesand in consultation with Executive Director of ACUTE.
