The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.
In addition to individual department responsibilities, interns will also participate in the program’s capstone event, the Innovation in Action Case Competition. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative and comprehensive solution to a business problem currently facing Novo Nordisk. At the conclusion of the program, teams will present their findings to a board of top Novo Nordisk officials representing the various lines of business.
Program Start: June 3rd, 2024.
Program End: August 9th, 2024.
Scope of Position
The Tax intern will support the day-to-day operations of the tax team including, U.S. Federal, International, State and Local tax compliance, internal reporting requirements, tax notices, tax audits, research and planning, and tax technology initiatives.
Responsibilities may include:
Tax Operations:
Prepare U.S. Federal, State and Local tax returns and supporting schedules (computation of permanent differences, timing differences, apportionment data, etc.).
Assist with internal reporting requirements including tax account reconciliations.
Assist with process improvement initiatives by utilizing excel formulas and other tax technology available to gain efficiencies.
Prepare check requests and mailings as needed for ongoing tax payments related to corporate estimates, sales & use, and other remittances.
Gather and organize information by running reports from SAP and various other software.
Tax Planning:
Support in maximizing Federal, State and Local tax incentive initiatives such as R&D tax credits and NJ BEIP program.
Support in updating tax models, refreshing queries within SAP, and initial research on tax planning ideas.
Tax Audits & Tax Notices:
Maintain a catalogue of Federal, State and local tax inquires, notices and audits relating to income, franchise and sales/use tax filings.
Draft responses to Federal, State and local audit information requests and notices.
Reduce paper inventory files by scanning and saving documents electronically.
Other responsibilities may include:
Gain a working knowledge of the company’s third-party software tools (SAP, OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, etc.).
Assist in specific functional areas in ad-hoc projects for NNI or Corporate.
Physical Requirements

Qualifications
Must be a current student enrolled or recently graduated (graduation date no earlier than April 2024) at/from an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree.
A completed or in progress undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related discipline preferred.
Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail.
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task.
Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers.
Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
