FTE: 1.000000 Shift: 1st shift 7:30 am to 4 pm every third weekon site. Job Summary: Responds to internal and external requests forpersonal health information (PHI) and research purposes. To provideassistance to the public and patients needing to access PHI. Ensures thetimely and accurate completion of requests for PHI, via walk-ins, mail,phone calls and/or faxed requests. Enters requests into hospital\'srelease of information database and processes the requests. To provideeffective and efficient response time to those customers needing accessto PHI within 24 hours. Follows current federal and state laws andregulations regarding the release of PHI. Assists internal and externalcustomers in the retrieval of protected health information that has beenapproved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB). Follows state andfederal regulations (HIPAA) along with hospital policies and proceduresrelated to the release of information for research purposes. Reviews theresearch request via the Medical College of Wisconsin\'s eBRIDGE systemto answer any questions regarding appropriate release of information orpatient consent. Works with the Office of Clinical Research withquestions related to Health Information Management (HIM) Departmentrequests for PHI related to research. Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: One year of experience in medical records ispreferred.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: High School diploma or equivalent isrequired.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: EPIC experience required and mustbe familiar with Federal and State regulatory requirements with thisjob.
