We take pride in the culture of ourcompany, that being ingenuity, unfailing customer service, and providingonly quality products.Together with Syngenta Vegetable Seeds, we have an immediate opening for anHorticultural Technician in Rocky Ford, CO.You will help shape the future of agriculture by:Provide operational support to crops and functions research activities atthe site.Work closely with Breeders and other subject experts for the operationalsupport to their nursery trials and research activities at site.
AccountabilitiesTimely support for operational activities.Responsible for the production and care of field & greenhouse plants.Activities include: soil preparation, planting, weed control,pollination, pest and disease monitoring, pesticide application,fertilization, irrigation, and harvesting.Assist with the development and evaluation of breeding material,including trial preparation, disease screening, data collection andentry, pollination, seed processing and treatment.Responsible for general maintenance of the greenhouse facility andequipment.Execute crop programs to the expectations of the breeding and researchstaff.Implement proper cultural Management of different Crops, includingcleanliness of the farms and nurseries.Qualifications - ExternalRequirementsHigh school diplomaAS or BS college degree in an agriculture related field is preferred(Seed Technology, Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Breeding, Agronomy);Experience related to plant science or horticulture is preferred.Training or experience in one or more of the following areas: vegetablecrop production, seed multiplication, agricultural quality assurance,seed technology, plant breeding or plant pathologyLeadership skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm for activelearning, and an interest in plant biology.Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual skills are aplus.Computer literacy is required and good organizational abilities.The position requires the ability to work for long periods in both fieldand greenhouse environments.The successful candidate will be expected to obtain a CO pesticide license
