Histotech / Grossing Trainee - Denver,CO - Monday-Friday
The Histotechnician/Grossing Technician Trainee position is for anindividual who meets the educational requirements outlined in the corporatepolicies outlined above, but does not have the bench experience. Theindividual will be trained either as a grossing technician or as ahistotechnician. The individual will be moved into the intern (I) jobgrade on a temporary basis until training is complete. The individual in thisposition will perform all work under direct supervision until general and/ortechnical supervisor have approved individual to work independently.
Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.00 / hourSalary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevantskills, training, experience, education, and where applicable,certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are alsoconsidered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annualperformance bonus compensation.

Under general supervision and according to policies and procedures, performroutine and limited non-routine activities involved in the preparation ofslides, for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s).Capable of performing all duties/responsibilities of a Histology LabAssistant.For Grossing Personnel Trainees - Under the direct supervision of aPathologist, Pathologist Assistant or Grossing Technician:Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgicalspecimens, ensuring that all lesions, markings and sutures are mentioned.Record measurements, weight, volume and any abnormal findings as applicable.Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing.Escalates non-routine, complicated surgical specimens to a GrossingTechnician or Pathologist Assistant.For Histotechnician Trainees - Under the direct supervision of aHistotechnician or HistotechnologistEnsure proper tissue processing.Performs limited embedding and microtomy.Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining.Perform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or automated.Perform limited special stains.Perform specimen preparation on non-gynecological specimens, includingcytopreparation, staining, coverslipping, etc. after completing trainingon non-gynecological specimen types. This includes specimen preparation ofFine Needle Aspiration (FNA) specimensEnsure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standardsare met.Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONSRequired Work Experience:N/APreferred Work Experience:1 year of histology and/or grossing experiencePhysical and Mental Requirements:Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.Knowledge:Basic knowledge of operating non-complex instrumentation.If training for grossing, meets all requirements as outlined in corporateMinimum Qualifications for Non-Pathologist Performing Gross TissueExaminations SOP and 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489.If tra ning for Histology, meets all requirements as outlined in corporatePolicy for Minimum Qualifications for Histotechnician and HistologySupervisor.Skills:Good clerical, organizational and communication skills.
