Legal Counsel, Compliance & Risk

About the role:
We are looking for someone who would be excited to work in a global, ever-changing environment. Our businesses are rapidly expanding, and we need a business-minded compliance professional that will take charge and help move our company forward. As a growing public company, we are seeking a candidate to provide hands-on support for a variety of established and emerging compliance topics, including with respect to risk management, governance, internal controls and supply chain management.
Reporting to Opera's General Counsel, tasks will include:
Risk Mapping, Assessments & Reporting: Work with business units, data protection officer and security team to prepare appropriate risk assessments, maintain Opera's risk register, and prepare periodic risk reporting to management to facilitate risk-informed decisions.
Supply Chain Due Diligence: Support Opera's due diligence of counterparties for purposes of sanctions compliance and supply chain assessments.
Emerging Compliance Issues: Support the legal and compliance team in developing compliance strategies for new regulatory requirements.
Public Reporting: Support public reporting under applicable ESG/Cybersecurity regimes implemented by European and US authorities.
Capital Markets & Internal Controls: Support the General Counsel in preparing public disclosures and carrying out legal/compliance related internal controls.
Job Requirements:
Fluent in English including compliance terminology;
5 or more years of work experience within the legal/compliance field; and
A current license to practice law in an EU/EEA jurisdiction and/or a risk management/compliance certification
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience working with several of the following: risk management, sanctions compliance, ESG topics, supply chain compliance, internal controls, capital markets compliance, data protection and/or cybersecurity.
