Job Title: Staff Accountant - Fixed Assets
Location: Washington, NC
Job Description:
Our organization is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and hardworking Staff Accountant with specialized experience in managing fixed assets. The selected candidate will be pivotal in accounting, processing, examining, and interpreting financial information crucial to the organization's financial health. This full-time position will be based onsite in Washington, NC.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the accounting of all fixed assets.
Ensure proper capitalization of new assets in accordance with company policies and accounting guidelines.
Track the compilation of project costs for all capital projects, ensuring that they are within budget and in line with company policies.
Conduct periodic reviews to ensure the impairment of assets.
Prepare monthly depreciation schedules.
Process, verify, and record property acquisitions and disposals in the fixed asset system.
Support the year-end audit and tax processes relevant to fixed assets.
Collaborate with other financial department team members to support overall department goals and objectives.
Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets, income, and expense statements.
Develop internal controls for fixed asset management.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in handling fixed assets or similar work in the accounting field.
Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in using financial software and MS Office.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with different departments.
