The Proteomics Platform at the University of Chicago is a researchfacility located in the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery (KCBD).The mission of the facility is to develop and apply advanced proteomicstechniques to answer both basic and translational scientific questionswith the help of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments. Weoffer scientific consultation tailored to each project, proteomicssample preparation services, and education to help researchers design,perform, and interpret complex proteomics data. Job Summary:
The University of Chicago\'s Proteomics Platform is seeking a TemporarySoftware Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving advanced proteomicsresearch data analysis and analysis tools development. As an integralmember of our dynamic team, the successful candidate will focus ondesigning, developing, and implementing sophisticated software solutionscrucial for analyzing and interpreting complex proteomics data. Thisposition offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly togroundbreaking research and technological advancements in the field ofproteomics.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will closely work with Proteomics Platform Director tofacilitate and enhance data analysis pipeline.Execute computational analysis including global proteomics, clinicalproteomics, phosphoproteomics, and metaproteomics projects withPython or R or existing standard analysis packages/softwares.Develop interactive analysis platform for collaborator.Provide analyses and visualization for presentations andpublications.Lead in development of new software tools to automate, process,analyze and visualize high-throughput multidimensional proteomicsdata.Plans own resources to implement or modify existing web-basedbioinformatics tools.Performs other related work as needed.Competencies:
Assist in the processing and analysis of proteomic data, usingvarious bioinformatics tools and software or develop new analysistools for the specific project.Provide support in research projects, including data collection,database management.Participate in collaborative projects with other research units,contributing to the development and implementation of bioinformaticsor software solutions.Engage in learning opportunities to stay updated with the latesttrends and techniques in bioinformatics and proteomics and noveluser interface building (e.g. dashboard).Additional Requirements
Education, Experience, or Certifications:
Education:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor\'s orMaster\'s program in Data Science, Bioinformatics, ComputationalBiology, or a related field required.Coursework or experience in proteomics or molecular biology ispreferred.Experience:
Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.Familiarity with programing languages such as R and Pythonpreferred.Strong computational and analytical skills preferred.Licenses and Certifications:
No specific licenses or certifications required for this position.However, any relevant certifications in bioinformatics or relatedfields will be considered favorably.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Primarily in a laboratory setting with some office work.General office activities including sitting, standing, and computerusage.This is a part-time internship, with flexible hours to accommodat academic commitments.Required Documents:
