  Director, Special Assets

  Capital One is seeking a Director level Workout Officer to provide loan workout expertise across the Commercial Real Estate sector. The candidate will manage a portfolio of criticized and distressed commercial real estate loans, across multiple property types, with risk management and loss mitigation as primary objectives.

  Director level Workout Officer will:

  Perform the duties of a loan officer and be responsible for the restructuring/loss mitigation of criticized and classified loansBe capable of applying credit officer, asset management and risk management disciplinesBe proficient in commercial real estate financial analysis and loan structuring, as well as commercial property valuationHave experience and knowledge around legal documentation, loan covenants, rights and remedies in the event of default, receivership and bankruptcy scenarios, and restructuring strategies for Commercial Real Estate loansUtilize expertise in Special Assets to ensure Capital One is leveraging the best practices of its peers and proactively evolving the policies and programs employed by the BankBe capable of working closely with and influencing senior business and risk management leaders within the Commercial Bank when creating, revising or implementing Special Assets workout strategiesBe comfortable leading their own portfolio of distressed loans autonomously (various property types and geographies)

  Primary Capabilities or Responsibilities:

  A solid track record of influencing others, building partnerships and fostering a culture of collaborationSkilled in gaining confidence and building trusting relationships with the most senior line of business executivesLead aggressive and comprehensive workout strategy to ensure optimal loss protection to the Bank in terms of both time and money, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirementsNegotiate and contract with various professionals such as attorneys, appraisers, brokers, etc. to provide services to ensure best cost/benefit return to BankEvaluate financial information, collateral, legal documentation and other available information to project probable and maximum loss exposure to BankProactively seek to improve processes and implement best in class solutions, raising quality and productivity in a calculated wayLead criticized and watch list internal governance process and ensure compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirementsCreate a culture of sharing lessons learned within Special Assets and back to the origination functions in order to avoid future mistakesBenchmarks own performance against industry best practicesActs as credit officer and risk management specialist on a portfolio of consulting relationships with other departmentsStrong written and verbal communication competencies, in addition to financial analytical skills

  Basic Qualifications:

  Bachelor's degree or Military experienceAt least 6 years of commercial real estate finance experience (lending, credit, asset management, underwriting, portfolio management, or workout)

  Preferred Qualifications:

  MBA or JD degreeAt least 8 years of experience in commercial real estate finance (see above description)

  The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

  New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $228,500 - $260,800 for Director, Special Assets

  Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

  This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
