Emory Healthcare (EHC) is the most comprehensive academic health system in Georgia, with $5.5 billion in net revenue in FY 2022System-wide, it has 23,624 employees, 2,796 licensed patient beds, and more than 3,450 physicians practicing in more than 70 specialties. Annual hospital admissions total 102,564 and outpatient service visits 5.95 million, while EHC clinicians saw 887,874 individual patients. Providing $148.2 million in charity care last year, EHC serves metro-Atlanta and the state with 425 locations.

Position Summary
The Director of Emory Healthcare's Innovation Hub is a pivotal leadership role responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of innovative healthcare solutions. This position requires a unique blend of strategic vision, healthcare expertise, and a passion for transformative change. The Director will lead the EHC Innovation Hub in identifying, developing, and integrating cutting-edge technologies and practices to enhance patient care, improve healthcare delivery, and foster a culture of innovation within Emory Healthcare and the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. The Director will work to ensure healthcare innovation initiatives produce learnings that are reproducible and coordinate resources across Emory University that support Emory faculty and staff in innovation projects. This position reports to the Chief Strategy Officer of Emory Healthcare/Woodruff Health Sciences Center.
Major Responsibilities
Develop and articulate a clear, forward-thinking vision for the Innovation Hub that aligns with Emory Healthcare’s strategic goals.
Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive innovation strategy, identifying key areas for growth and development.
Be the EHC internal champion for the Innovation Hub. Identify, suggest, design and implement activities and programs that will ensure the functional area is fulfilling the Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub’s mandate and promoting the Emory Healthcare Innovation Hub as an interdisciplinary entity.
Oversee the identification, evaluation, and development of new healthcare technologies, systems, and practices.
Foster partnerships with technology companies, academic institutions, and other relevant organizations to drive innovation.
Advise on areas in which innovation can be used to enhance value within Emory Healthcare. Assist senior leadership of Emory Healthcare in identifying experiences, partnerships, and collaborations outside of Emory.
Identify commercial opportunities and help direct the commercialization of care delivery innovations at Emory.
Build and manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals, providing guidance and mentorship to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Encourage a collaborative environment where open communication, creative thinking, and a patient-centric approach are paramount.
Engage faculty, staff, and students to enroll in a new innovation talent/interest database.
Ensure the effective management of the Innovation Hub’s resources, including budgeting, staffing, and project management.
Establish and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emory Innovation Hub including cross-campus partnerships to ensure the adoption of innovation.
Implement robust processes for tracking progress and measuring the impact of innovative initiatives on patient care and operational efficiency.
Serve as the primary liaison between the external Hub sponsors, partners, and funders with the internal Emory ecosystem including the Office of Technology Transfer, Library Information Technology Services, Emory Digital leadership, and clinicians and operational leaders as appropriate.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for innovation initiatives.
Promote and support research activities related to healthcare innovation.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare innovation.
Ensure all innovation activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Working closely with Emory Digital, lead an internal RFP process to solicit proposals for innovation projects from Emory faculty and staff.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training:
Master’s degree.
Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Medicine, or a related field strongly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in healthcare, with a significant focus on innovation, technology, and leadership. Background managing complex projects required.
Experience with corporate partners and academic collaborations strongly preferred.
Skills:
Outstanding initiative and ability to work independently and solve problems creatively.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Ability to set priorities among multiple tasks.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated managerial skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including clinical practices, healthcare technology, and system operations.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful innovation strategies
