The City of Billings is seeking a Designer / CAD Technician to provide design and drafting services for projects and tasks and maintain and update various maps and databases.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Researches records, plats, maps, easements, utility information, and other data pertaining to engineering projects.- Incorporates survey and topographic data into project design.- Performs design and drafting work which involves compliance with construction codes, ordinances, policies, and plans.- Develops designs in accordance with standard engineering practice.- Coordinates and consults with engineers or designers to complete municipal infrastructure projects.- Updates and manages design standard drawings.- Demonstrates commitment to compliance with project CAD standards.- Maintains complete and accurate files and databases.- Maintains and updates Division CAD templates and standards.- Responds to and resolves public inquiries and complaints.Required Qualifications and Skills:- Associate?s degree, technical school degree, or specialized CAD certification with specialized training beyond high school, or equivalent- Strong interpersonal skills- A valid Montana driver?s license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employmentPreferred Qualifications and Skills:Auto CAD Civil 3-D design and drafting background experience in roadway, corridor modeling, and municipal utility plan productionExperience with city government and knowledge of department or function operations.Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Salary: $29.4047 - $39.3766 per hour.
