DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis role entails carrying out supportive tasks associated with safeguarding and reviving the waterways and wetlands of the Commonwealth. This includes aiding in data entry and providing assistance in tasks pertaining to aquatic biology. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and/or coordinating field investigations and ecological studies of aquatic habitats and the surrounding environmental conditions. You will actively participate in biological surveys and investigations, analyzing community structures to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ecosystem. Additionally, you will compile field notes and sketches to create a schematic layout of field conditions. You will also acquire files from records management and collect data related to permitted facilities. Regular meetings with designated Waterways and Wetlands technical staff are held to discuss progress and receive feedback. Furthermore, this role involves preparing various written materials, such as letters, correspondence, and reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employmentThe employment period will occur between the dates of 5/1/24 - 8/30/24.Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.Telework: Interns will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time on a schedule that aligns with their supervisor, so they are in the office on the same days. No full time telework will be approved. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you must report to the office.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSInternship Requirements:Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:BiologyEnvironmental ScienceGeologyFreshman year completed.Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.
Additional Requirements:This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
