JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Under the general direction of the LeadVentilation Respiratory Therapist, The Respiratory Therapist is alicensed professional who provides direct and indirect patient careunder a provider\'s orders and in compliance with the policies andprocedures of Mercyhealth At Home, professional standards, andregulatory and accreditation requirements. The Respiratory TherapistVentilation Specialist provides Respiratory Care services to patients intheir homes, clinics or at one of the Mercyhealth at Home locations. TheRespiratory Therapist is responsible for establishing and implementingcare plans, educating patients/caregivers and evaluating progress towardgoals. The scope of responsibility of this position includes acting as aresource for Mercyhealth at Home staff and referral sources, as well asperforming patient intake, order entry, insurance authorization andmedical documentation processes. Regulatory compliance to optimize theorganization\'s revenue cycle is vital to the organization\'s success.Customer satisfaction is critical and this position requires eye todetail, organization, and a focus on the \"big picture\" forMercyhealth. This position follows the mission and vision ofMercyhealth. Responsibilities Provides instruction to patients and/orcaregivers primarily on the proper use of in-home ventilation equipment.Methods of ventilation include; invasive and non-invasive Monitorpatient\'s compliance and data to ventilation therapy, via cloudtechnology. Make critical ventilation setting adjustments/recommendations to following physicians to maintain patients\' qualityof life and; prevent ER visits and hospital readmissions. Makeventilator setting adjustment per physician\'s orders while workingindependently in patient\'s home. Monitor patient\'s vital signs toensure no adverse outcomes to ventilator setting adjustments. Takeimmediate actions as needed to maintain the health and safety ofpatient. Provides instruction to patients and/or caregivers on theproper use of other respiratory care equipment including but not limitedto; home oxygen, nebulizers, apnea monitors and, positive airwaypressure. Establishes and implements care plans, following providerorders, and evaluates progress toward goals Follows clinical protocolsand procedures as approved by Mercy at Home Ensures patient and/orcaregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment by using theteach and teach back method of training. Answers questions and concernsfrom patients and customers related to respiratory equipmentParticipates in multidisciplinary team patient care conferences asneeded.
