The BARDA Alliance Summer Internship will provide undergraduate or graduate students the opportunity to develop practical experience in working with a public-private partnership, through supporting BLUE KNIGHT™. BLUE KNIGHT™ is a joint initiative created between Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. BLUE KNIGHT™ is a collaboration dedicated to anticipating potential health security threats, activating the global innovation community, and amplifying scientific and technological advancements with the aim to prepare for and respond to our rapidly evolving global health environment.
The Internship Program will provide students with practical experience in public-private partnerships, working with cross-functional teams, and exposure to a global portfolio of early-stage companies working on potential solutions for known and unknown future health threats.
Responsibilities May Include:
Support the BARDA Alliance Director with sourcing, portfolio management, and/or business operations for BLUE KNIGHT™
Support BLUE KNIGHT™ sourcing of new, on-strategy companies to join the growing portfolio, including through landscaping and proactive sourcing opportunities
Assist in ensuring successful onboarding of new BLUE KNIGHT™ companies through supporting the company onboarding process
Assist in portfolio management of the current BLUE KNIGHT™ portfolio
Support the mentorship opportunities available through BLUE KNIGHT™
Capture success stories and outcomes from BLUE KNIGHT™ and resident companies
Support the business operations for the global BLUE KNIGHT™ portfolio, including supporting ongoing and new data collection, dashboards for key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting requirements
Enhance and develop new SOPs for BLUE KNIGHT™
Develop opportunities to improve the user experience for BLUE KNIGHT™ companies
Qualifications
Skills:
Be detail-oriented in managing complex initiatives
Demonstrated proficiency with productivity tools and portal technology, including SharePoint, sites, is required
Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and judgment skills to independently complete projects and administrative duties, as well as anticipate executive needs
Required to exercise sound judgment and discretion, independently assess and resolve complex situations and shift priorities as the need arises
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Handle confidential information in a professional and discrete manner
Challenges the status quo, looks for/adopts best practices, embraces change
Must demonstrate flexibility, while maintaining sense of urgency
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and/or Tableau
Qualifications:
Exceptional writing skills are required.
Experience within a healthcare setting or industry association is preferred.
Experience working with U.S. federal funding and with U.S. government stakeholders.
Experience developing KPI and data reporting dashboards.
Must be detail orientated and have strong personal leadership skills.
Ideal Start Date:
May 2024.The anticipated base pay for this position is between $21.00 and $40.00, but will be based on candidate’s program year, discipline, degree and/or experience.
