Responsibilities The Audiovisual Production Specialist is responsible for ongoing video and audio content production and storytelling on digital platforms, striving to create a positive visitor experience by ensuring content is audience-focused, engaging, relevant, inclusive and accessible. In this position, you will: Produce and direct original audio (e.g., podcast features) and video presentations requiring the application of imagination, creativity and innovation. Record and edit digital media content elements into finished products using effective communication methods to reach and engage target audiences and meet project goals. Perform content management tasks like organizing, tagging and application of metadata. Ensure that appropriate credit and citations for material and contributors are included in audio and video projects. Develop collaborative storyboards, scripts and production plans with a wide range of Unit partners, including influencers, traditional media outlets and community partners with differing levels of experience with video and audio production. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as working in support of a museum or cultural organization by producing film and video content, including: directing and producing, recording and editing, engaging in content management, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop storyboards, scripts, and production plans. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week. OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree in photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
