Robert Half is partnering with a company in Cleveland seeking an Accounting Assistant to the Controller. This position is onsite, must be able to work at the office.
Job Responsibilities: Post receipts and deposits in a timely manner, prepare bank deposits, perform analysis and reconciliations, resolve payment discrepancies, maintain member database, produce reports as required by management, generate invoices in member software, assist Controller with compliance and annual reporting and filings, maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, relay changes of information to appropriate employees, copy, file, and retrieve materials for accounting as needed, maintain accounting records and annual files, perform clerical duties for Controller, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Organize schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting
Requirements
Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, proficient in Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, self-motivated with the ability to anticipate work needs.
Education & Experience: Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred, 2+ years of related experience required.
