Summary
The Department of Cardiac Surgery is seeking a Project Manager tojoin its Section of Health Services Research and Quality (HSRQ) and serve as the Section Coordinator. This position is a multifunctional role that will provide opportunities for education and growth in the areas of healthcare administration, project management, and research administration. Under the general supervision of the HSRQ section head and the Department of Cardiac Surgery leadership team, this position will provide robust administrative and project management support to faculty within the HSRQ section, while also serving as the lead administrative contact/liaison for the section more broadly. In this capacity, the selected candidate will interact with a variety of constituents both internal and external to the department, as well as the institution. Accordingly, the selected candidate will have prior experience in managing projects of moderate complexity across diverse settings.

Responsibilities*
Manage Projects for the Section of HSRQ (40%)
Under the direction of the HSRQ Section Leader, assist with managing teams, overseeing activities and tracking progress of various project needs across the section. Collaborate with internal and external parties as needed to assess performance and move projects forward in a successful manner. Maintain communication with section leadership regarding the status of assigned activities/projects.
Organize meetings and workshops, including reserving space and food, developing agendas in conjunction with section faculty and staff, making AV arrangements (Zoom), assisting with presentation materials, and participating in events.
Manage bibliographies, citations, references, and master publications list for the section as well as the department.
Assist with the preparation and submission of articles, manuscripts, and presentations.
Assist with allocating team resources and managing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects and tasks.
Assist section team members with supply orders and other business needs.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Manage Projects for Research Activities within the Section of HSRQ (30%)
Assist the section leader with coordinating research teams and related activities regarding the preparation and submission of grant applications, as well as managing specific phases of the application process.
Serve as a resource for creating/updating biosketches, support pages, and other grant documentation.
Assist with the preparation and submission of manuscripts and presentations by coordinating the activities/roles of the team.
Assist with allocating team resources and managing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects tasks.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Oversee Administrative Operations for the Section of HSRQ (30%)
Serve as the HSRQ Section Coordinator and primary point of contact for internal and external parties.
Track and communicate the status of activities/projects across the section with faculty and staff.
Complete monthly reconciliation of financial accounts and P-Card statements.
Manage faculty calendars with a focus on section and research activities.
Assist with correspondence and other professional documentation.
Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
To complete these responsibilities, the ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated computer competency with Microsoft Office and Google applications. In addition, the candidate should have strong organizational skills, the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, develop and present alterative project-specific pathways, the ability to anticipate needs and follow through on the completion of tasks, and the ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-4 years of relevant experience in the areas of administration, project management, and/or research administration.
Proficient in typical business software, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Google, and Zoom programs.
Excellent oral and written (a sample of written materials is requested for review) communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals.
Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Strong sense of integrity with the ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to work independently and as part of high functioning team.
Ability to think autonomously and escalate issues as needed.
Desired Qualifications*
Master's degree in public health or a similar area of study,or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing projects, preferably using project management software.
Experience providing editorial review of manuscripts and grant applications.
Experience preparing grant applications and proposal documents.
Experience utilizing university systems, including MPathways, Concur, Wolverine Access, MiChart, MiCME, Elements (previously M-CV), and Cornerstone (previously MLearning).
Experience utilizing bibliographic software, including Doodle Poll, Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, Slack, and SharePoint.
Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Work Locations
As part of Michigan Medicine's Flexible First Workplace initiative, this position has a potential opportunity for a hybrid arrangement that includes a combination of onsite and remote work. Thehybrid position will work 3 days a week onsite at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC) and the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC), and 2 days remote.
