UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Summer Internship in the Community HealthChoice's Quality Improvement department. This internship will be Monday through Friday daylight hours and will be a remote position. We are looking for recent undergrad graduate students and graduate students interested in Social Work, Analytics, human Services and Public Health. The internship is a set rate of $18.00/hr.
The UPMC Insurance Services Division (ISD) college student will have a unique opportunity to learn and contribute to the UPMC Insurance Services Division, while pursuing their health care career interests. Students will have opportunities to: - Gain broad exposure to various aspects of the Insurance Services Division (ISD). - Better understand the role of the ISD as it relates to UPMC and its function as part of a fully integrated academic medical center. - Strengthen health care experience through work on various projects. - Observe executive-level meetings. - Improve management, leadership, communication, networking, and analytical skills.
The CHC Quality Team Purpose is to ensure health plan success in meeting regulatory and industry requirements, partnering with other departments to drive product success, and achieving and maintaining NCQA Accreditation, Health Equity (HE/HE+) Accreditation, and Long-Term Services & Supports (LTSS) Distinction. CHC Quality serves an integral role in planning, evaluating, improving, and innovating the CHC product according to key quality metrics evaluated regularly for managed care long-term services and supports programs. We manage a team of Critical Incident (CI) Staff who are dedicated to ensuring the health plan complies with critical incident reporting standards and management, including the timely start to investigations within 24 hours of notification, reporting of incidents within 48 hours and the timely completion of investigations within 30 days from the date of discovery. This role would provide support, data cleanup, analysis, and presentation preparation duties relating to critical incidents.
Responsibilities:
Complete function specific tasks and assignments.
Represent UPMC internally and externally.
Participate in service and social activities.
