Human Resources Director Position:
Hagerty Consulting has grown rapidly and is seeking a talented, experienced, and dynamic Human Resources (HR) professional who can support the needs of our complex organization. We seek someone who can develop and implement a vision for our personnel experience, manage labor-related compliance, and lead our HR program. Within our organization, there are both day-to-day and strategic duties pertaining to the workforce that require attention to detail, excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of labor regulations, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational management.
The HR Director should have experience building and leading an HR department. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of HR systems with the goal of leveraging technology to streamline processes and improve overall employee experiences.
Where is this job located? We are headquartered in Evanston, IL and ideally we would like our HR Director to work out of our HQ office. We will also consider remote candidates as well as those located within the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Responsibilities include:
Strategic Direction. Provide overall leadership and management of Hagerty-s HR function. Work with other members of Hagerty-s leadership team to develop and execute an overall vision for Hagerty HR practices, effectively managing change and driving continuous improvement. Enhance Hagerty-s organizational management processes through implementation of best practices and industry standards for systems (e.g. Human Resource Information System), internal process design, development of standard operating procedures, and maintenance of the employee handbook and associated policies.
Employee Experience. Support improvement actions and coordination of onboarding, performance reviews, record management, employment structures, training programs, formal and informal communications, and offboarding and exit interviews.
Ongoing Management/Support. Support Hagerty-s diverse and decentralized workforce through coordination with project teams and firm leadership, addressing employee concerns and grievances and supporting employee development.
Diversity and Inclusion. Advance firm values and by leading anti-harassment, diversity, sensitivity, and inclusion initiatives.
Talent Acquisition, Cadre Management and Disaster Response Support. Oversee the Talent Acquisition department and provide ongoing independent contractor cadre management and support the rapid deployment process for team members in disaster response scenarios.
Compliance and Risk Management. Ensure firm compliance with federal and state labor laws across a broad and evolving portfolio of clients/geographies, equal employment opportunity (EEO), government contracting regulations, family and medical leave act (FMLA), employment claims, terminations, and other related issues.
Benefits Coordination. Support firm actions associated with insurance, open enrollment, renewals, disability insurance, and claim management.
In this role, candidates must have:
More than ten (10) years of experience in HR.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent organization, prioritization, and time management. Positive, can-do attitude, exhibiting openness and a solution-oriented approach to resolve challenges with effective change management skills. Helps develop others to reach their full potential.
Experience in a professional services industry, to include, but not limited to emergency management, disaster response, public health, engineering, urban planning, accounting, or associated fields.
Ability to lead an organization-s HR function through growth and change, implementing new, more sophisticated systems and processes.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to develop a long-range vision and multi-year systems roadmap and innovative solutions. Execution skills, including a desire to roll up sleeves to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Ability to translate business needs and requirements to actionable information. Understanding of payroll, finance, and information technology business processes and how they impact HR operations.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, on occasion, to meet disaster response or immediate client needs
Candidates might also have:
Experience working with a company that does significant business with state, local and/or federal government, understanding of government contractor requirements.
Experience working for a national company with operations in multiple states.
Significant project management experience related to implementations of new programs and technologies.
At least five (5) years of experience at the HR Manager level or above.
A masters degree in Human Resources.
