Follow Trident on the Web ator on social media on,,,,or Summary: The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Assistant Manager assures that all products produced at the plant meet or exceed company standards and comply with local, state, and federal regulations in conjunction with the FSQA Manager. This position assists in developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the Quality Assurance programs which assure food quality and safety while overseeing and occasionally directing a staff of 14. The role also ensures that finished products meet product specifications as outlined by the customer's functional needs, food safety specifications and service by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Key Responsibilities: Supervises the Quality Assurance team members in conjunction with the FSQA Manager. Assists in assuring that all shipped products meet the product specifications, food safety issues and regulatory issues. Performs audits to monitor for compliance within the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and food safety issues. Maintains compliance with the FDA labeling regulations. Performs audits to monitor the sanitary conditions within the manufacturing facility. Audits the facility pest control program. Assists in monitoring and reporting the facility quality score, service score and complaint report. Works to positively motivate employees and instill an attitude of continuous improvement. Handles crew disciplinary issues in the absence of the FSQA Manager as needed with input from Human Resources Manager. Trains and oversees site personnel to ensure adherence to department protocols. Maintains current knowledge of government and industry FSQA codes and standards (GFSI, BRC, HACCP, ADEC, USDC, and others) and ensures compliance. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned. Additional Responsibilities: Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 1 years' supervisory experience in the Quality Assurance field, preferably in food production or seafood industry HS Diploma or equivalent Intermediate proficiency with MS office applications, specifically, Excel Knowledge of HACCP regulations, Food Safety, and Audit procedures Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Food or Biological Sciences HACCP certification Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes including BRCGS, SQF, etc. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The empl yee is regulary required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear. The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
