Job Duties
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Work-Based Learning Instructor and Coordinator within its Career Tech Academy Division. The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center provides access to higher education, workforce training and programming, innovative industry services, and technologically advanced state-of-the-art facilities and learning labs that includes comprehensive fiscal management, operational and supportive services, community outreach and engagement, and extensive collaborations. These components work together to support the organizations mission of advancing Southern Virginias economic potential through education, innovation, and collaboration. The purpose of the Work-Based Learning Instructor and Coordinator position is to provide related instruction as well as combine and coordinate efforts of students, assuring that work-based learning experiences effectively and efficiently help students develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and work habits so they can move successfully into the world of work. Please note that this position requires meeting the Virginia Community College Systems (VCCS-29) standards for an adjunct faculty. Also, this is a restricted classified, grant funded position. Funding is dependent upon grant funding availability.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable experience with curriculum development; Working knowledge of high school level career and technical education (CTE) requirements, guidelines, and offerings; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport and working relationships with diverse stakeholders; Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct effective student, program, and curriculum evaluations; Working knowledge of private sector and industry workforce needs; Demonstrated ability to effectively manage electronic and paper files/records; Demonstrated ability to develop and work effectively with diverse stakeholders; Proficiency using word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications; Demonstrated ability to evaluate outcomes; Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills; Must be effective operating well in a fast-paced environment and readily adaptable to changes as needed; Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment; Excellent time management skills including proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and Exceptional interpersonal skills. Bachelors degree in Education, Counseling, or Business.
Additional Considerations
Prior teaching experience, credentials and/or related train-the-trainer/facilitation certification; Familiarity with industry-recognized credentials associated with various CTE courses/curriculum.
