Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function) Position is responsible for directing a centralized team with BHE-wide oversight of financial and accounting processes. Directs system design, implementation, maintenance and enhancements of financial reporting and accounting systems. Serves as the primary liaison between information technology and accounting organizations and oversees projects including system implementation, enhancements and upgrades that impact all BHE subsidiaries. Additionally, this position is responsible for developing and ensuring proper procedures and controls are in place to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley act, section 404 and ISO 27001 certification. Typical Duties Directs a team that manages and maintains the financial and accounting systems to complete BHE-wide accounting and finance processes including monthly close, data governance and financial reporting. Allocates resources, sets direction, manages work and serves as key contact on cross-business accounting projects and information technology initiatives. Actively evaluates and refines technology solution and reporting processes across Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s U.S. and international subsidiaries to drive improvement and uniformity. Responsible for financial report development, management and maintenance within the BHE accounting and finance systems. Monitors accounting processes to verify that proper procedures and controls are in place and ensures corporate compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act, section 404 and ISO 27001 certification. Assists in the general accounting of the BHE corporate entities, including intercompany transactions and budgets. Provides support to regulated business units with federal and state regulatory filings and data requests. Develops project plans, participates with project activities associated with financial accounting. Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. Supports acquisition and business development work as requested. Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and certified public accountant preferred (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree). Advanced degree and/or public accounting experience preferred. Eight years of progressive accounting and financial reporting and information technology experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities. Proficient in the use of accounting systems and software: Excel, Oracle, Access, Word, etc. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Oracle Fusion ERP/PPM, PowerPlan, Vertex and Kyriba systems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
