Job Description:Responsible for covering field welding, shop welding and other non-welding activities such as pipeline maintenance, pipe wrapping, CP support and construction management support.
• Independently supports pipeline/terminal welding and maintenance activities. This includes becoming certified to weld per AP 1104 and API-1107, completing hot work permits and meeting all NuStar welding standards and authorizations.
• Carries out terminal/pipeline asset repairs involving but not limited to: wrapping/coating of pipe, main line pumping units, buried pipe, terminal and their support systems.
• Carries out other tasks which may include operating hand tools, assisting in line locating, pigging, line marking, light vehicle maintenance, fire watch, ditch maintenance and housekeeping duties.Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Must have at least 1 year of direct experience in working with pipeline terminals operating systems or in a related industry or have other industry related experience that shows maturity and safe work habits in an industrial environment.
Intermediate skill level in welding required.
Must be able to demonstrate competence in intermediate math.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing.
Must be organized and punctual.
Must be able to read blueprints and other construction documentation and create as built drawings.
Must be able to use various power and hand tools.
Must be willing to accommodate overnight travel.
Office skills and computer skills helpful.
Prior terminal, pipeline tank truck or oil related experiences helpful.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to follow verbal and written instructions given in English and to operate independently and observe safe operating practices.
Familiar with safe hot work practices, confined space regulations and DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations.
Must be available to answer and respond to after hour calls 24 hours per day/7 days a week.
Extensive driving in company vehicle required.
Good driving record required.
Availability for overnight travel to various job sites is required.
80% of travel is expected.
This position will require an individual to hold a valid driver’s license.
When a higher-level position exists candidates with greater qualifications may be considered for the position.
