  Summary About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 3rd Medical Deployment Support Command, 874 Medical Detachment, 332 Medical Brigade that is located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Process personnel and payroll actions. Advise new members on the USAR program, obligations, advantages and unit vacancies. Provide technical advice to unit commander and staff. Interpret and apply regulations, policies and practices applicable to unit operations and activities. Monitor unit mobilization readiness. Maintain liaison with higher headquarters assuring compliance with directives. Coordinate use of U. S. Army Reserve (USAR) centers, and arranges for facility maintenance and repairs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administrative and operational services provided in support of a military unit or military activity by preparing a variety of written products to include correspondence and reports; monitoring the unit and individual readiness programs; processing personnel and payroll records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Applies Technology to Tasks Interpersonal Skills Manages and Organizes Information Organizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment. This position is obligated.
