Technical Director/Shop Foreman
Manage and supervise the daily operation of the scene shop for the Department of Theatre, Dance, & Arts Administration. Supervise the construction and maintenance of scenic elements, including fabrication, finishing, and strike for all departmental productions. Oversee scenic and prop student employees, department stock, and budgets for these areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work directly with scenic designer and student designers in constructing and implementing the scenic design for each production to meet deadlines.
• Oversee and maintain equipment, inventory, and materials, as well as scenic budgets and purchasing for department productions and inventory.
• Supervise the rental, storage and maintenance of stock scenery and prop pieces.
• In conjunction with the faculty TD plan the operation and construction schedule for each production and serve as TD for multiple projects throughout the year.
• Supervise, hire, and train student labor for scenery, paints, and props.
• Attend, assist, and oversee all student staffed production run crews including crew training during build, tech & dress rehearsals, and strike.
• Oversee student designers use of stock scenery and scene shop for departmentally supported productions.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in technical theatre, or professional scene shop management experience required.
• Demonstrates skills in scenic construction techniques, principles and practices including carpentry, welding and rigging.
• Demonstrated knowledge in drafting (AutoCAD preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to serve as a technical director within a professional or academic setting including calendaring, budgeting, and drafting of construction drawings.
• Demonstrates knowledge of theatre production, operations, and procedures and experience working with student labor.
• Possess a collaborative, cooperative nature.
• Experience in educational theatre production, including skills in formal and informal teaching environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge and ability to utilize scenic technology including automation, CNC routers, and standard industry software.
