Description:
The IBM Tivoli Monitoring Application Systems Architect role develops infrastructure design solutions covering network, server, database, application, and reporting domains. Creates monitoring capabilities for new and upcoming technologies. Is responsible for installation, maintenance, and support systems management of Tivoli monitoring landscape to include the consolidation of multiple monitoring offerings into the Tivoli framework as well as performing UNIX/LINUX systems administration tasks which includes application installation, upgrades, performance tracking, and scripting. The Systems Architect will adhere to established user standards and procedures, participate on project teams, collaborate with application developers and infrastructure peers as necessary, and provide monitoring tool support for the EOM Operations Center.
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for planning and devising the techniques to manage, configure and ensure the reliable operation of Unix and Linux-based servers, including but not limited to hardware, operating systems, clustering, file systems, security, and storage (local, direct attached, SAN, NAS, SCSI) following established procedures and with minimal supervision. Provides technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to subordinates and serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert keeping abreast of new technology in order to provide innovative and forward thinking technical planning recommendations for management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science, computer technology, information management or related field or vendor certification or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
5-7 years Unix/Linux/AIX experience or equivalent
Experience and good understanding with all aspects of IT network/ infrastructure management and related protocols (e.g. SNMP,etc.)
Must have a general knowledge of scripting (Perl, Shell, Python, etc) and operating systems UNIX/ LINUX and Windows.
Develop and implements disaster recovery plans for standardized monitoring architecture
Recover failed systems, define hardware configurations, consolidation and archival of application/log data.
Desired Qualification:
