Substation Engineer

　　LOCATION - HENDERSON, KY

　　Works on all tasks involved in substation design and construction projects including: prepare and review specifications and drawings, make economic and technical evaluations, update project schedules and provide progress reports, assist operations with technical support, and perform construction management and inspections during capital construction projects. Engineer must use formal engineering training and practical applications in an electrical power substation environment and be familiar with the overall power system, its components, and operation.

　　The substation engineering role will also be responsible for development and support of protection and control related tasks including: development of electrical schematics, protective relay settings development and coordination, fault study analysis, support field-testing and commissioning, and provides NERC/SERC compliance support related to transmission system protection (PRC standards). Substation Engineer will be required to review substation physical design plans, grounding and shielding designs, provide or review bill of materials necessary for capital construction procurement, and support capital budgeting for assigned projects. The engineer will also support communications related task required at substation locations including: microwave radio, SCADA, RTU communications, and transmission line communications based relaying schemes.

　　Qualifications include B.S. degree in Engineering with electrical emphasis. Completed Fundamentals in Engineering exam (EIT certificate) or Professional Engineer license is preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD. Candidate should be familiar with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, RUS, OSHA ANSI, and other applicable industry standards for substation designs.
