To perform the duties of student worker for the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine (Board); to provide administrative and clerical support while providing the student with employment experience that will assist them in reaching identifiable educational goals. Work includes but is not limited to projects that improve the Board’s access to important applicant and licensing data and facilitates the Board’s transition to electronic records management. Basic data entry into the Board’s automated licensing information management system (ALIMS) may be included. The incumbent must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program.
Upon entrance to the position, the successful incumbent will gain working knowledge of the Board’s administrative policies and procedures, licensing program practices and procedures, and medical terminology related to Veterinary Medicine. The position will apply a working knowledge of the Minnesota Data Practices Act as it applies to information maintained by Board.
This temporary, part-time Student Worker position anticipated start date near January 17, 2024 or sooner. Working hours and days will be flexible around student’s class schedule. The position’s workdays are Monday through Friday generally during business hours (7:30 AM to 4:00 PM) in alignment with student availability.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program.
Skill in keyboarding/typing, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce memos and correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.
Skill in data entry sufficient to compile, sort, and verify data accuracy before entering it.
Ability to understand written and spoken English sufficient to maintain records, files, notes, and logs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to or experience with evaluating documents for accuracy and completion.
Abilty to or experience with interpreting data and extracting information as appropriate.
Computer software skills such as Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
Ability to quickly learn licensing software such as ALIMS.
